Hey, I think I just figured out how to post. I still don't know where I'm posting to (the mavens community?), who will see this, or where it will be displayed, but here goes nothin'.
(oh, as I scroll down to post I see that the audience is "social media mavens". Hi Mavens!

Whoo-hoo!

Thanks, Pete. Feel free to play with the other tools, too. Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback. :)
Posting Posting, Who's Got the Post?
Tue, 01/20/2009 - 4:53pm
I love this, but as an "oldie" who likes new technology and social networking, I continue to seek posting that is intuitive. This isn't too bad. Of course, I am probably putting my comments under the wrong post header. Oh well. Live and learn. I'll keep playing around.

Actually, you posted your reply perfectly. :)
We want to make the task flows as intuitive as possible, so if I'd love to hear your suggestions for improvements. Were you trying to do something specific and the link to do it wasn't where you thought it would be? Other ideas, problems, comments?
so far so good ...

SPAM

Just what we all need, spam in ALA Connect.

I deleted the spam and the user who posted it. This is the first spam we've seen in seven weeks, so hopefully this is an anomaly since it's difficult to automatically create accounts. If another one appears on the site, we'll beef up the registration process to make it even harder.
Don't worry, Brian - we hate spam as much as you do, and even though ALA is always a high-profile target, there's no way we're going to let spam infiltrate the site. If anyone sees another one on Connect, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jenny

SPAM content removed. We're on it and will take further steps to prevent spammers from creating accounts. I'm also temporarily making this group moderated for membership so that we have to approve new folks joining it until a different deterrent is in place.

Just to keep everyone up-to-date, we got a third spam on the site this morning, so we've changed the registration level on new non-member accounts so that they require admin approval before they can post. It will cause a bit of a delay in non-members accessing the site, but it's the easiest way to stop any further problems. Therefore, I've reset the group to "open" and anyone can join again.
When we migrate to Drupal 6 later this month, we may change this to moderate the first comment/post instead, but we'll see how things go. I'm hoping that the new Palm Pre I'll be purchasing this weekend will make it easy for me to activate new accounts from anywhere. :)

Jenny, would love to hear your comments on the new Palm. My last phone upgrade was to a Centro, but have been reading about the Pre with interest.

Believe me, Brian, that's about *all* you're going to hear about from me for the foreseeable future. Well, that and Connect. I am positively giddy and can't wait for Saturday!

Centro to Pre
Thu, 07/30/2009 - 8:33am
I, too, have a Centro and love it but I am moving on to the Pre soon. I just have to get over to the Sprint store. The Pre looks great and I love the Touchstone (may end up getting a second one someday for work). I'm not worried about the lack of apps at this time because I know they will be added regularly.
