Picture Books Go Digital- program

-Amber hosted the program for us. The committee members went over to attend the program after the meeting concluded at 9am.

ALSC business

-Advisor Kay Weisman filled us in on the committee going virtual. We are part of the "Frontier Five" of committees going virtual. Might be asked to help others along the way. Hasn't been voted on or enacted yet. Will be decided at MW, 2012.

-ALSC discussing making an app

-Gretchen will contact Dan Rude and ask about us participating in upcoming Student Sessions then report back to committee.

Posting to ALSC blog:

-Questioned process for content being posted, chatted with Mary Voores about process for posting directly instead of going through a "middle-man," Jill is going to set up email account for the committee (done, thanks!) so we can get login info directly. Waiting to hear back from Mary. They would like us to post at least once a month, more is encouraged. Members were encourage to sign up for a month to post. Jennifer is posting in July. Gretchen suggested sometimes posting on recent research findings to help children’s librarians have the necessary vocabulary to answer question from parents and caregivers.  The committee’s blogs go live the second Saturday of each month.

Wiki:

-New members will need to be added to the wiki.

Children and Libraries column

- Larry is going to write next column. I will find out deadline info and email contact info to him and the committee.

Chats: Gretchen will investigate a possible alternative to Meebo. Possibly tinychat.
