Re: Consideration of proposed ALSC White Paper “The Importance of Play, Particularly Constructive Play, in Public Library Programming.”
Hello ALSC Board!
I am opening an online board meeting to consider adoption of the ALSC White Paper “The Importance of Play, Particularly Constructive Play, in Public Library Programming.” The white paper is intended to be an advocacy tool for our members to use to garner support with their administration, local and state government officials, and outreach partners. It was written by consultant, Sue McCleaf Nespeca and is in conjunction and support of our new partnership between ALSC and LEGO DUPLO.
Additional information is attached.
May I please have a motion and a second that ALSC support the adoption of “The Importance of Play, Particularly Constructive Play, in Public Library Programming” that will be posted on our ALSC website and distributed in conjunction with our partnership?
Once you see a motion and a second, let's move right into discussion.
Please make a comment, even a brief one, so that you are counted as in attendance and we can meet our quorum. Cast your vote on the voting issues anytime as soon as possible after a vote is called (possibly as early as Monday afternoon). My intention is to close discussion on Monday afternoon if it seems that we are ready to make a decision, until then we are in discussion.
Thanks in advance for your thoughtful participation. We will have a couple of other items to review in the next week or so, but we need to move more quickly on this one so I am sending it separately.
Thanks everyone! Carolyn
