    Overview

Do you excel in an environment that values exploration and discovery? We have a universe of opportunities waiting for you!

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is NASA’s lead center for robotic exploration of the solar system. Our core competency is the end-to-end implementation of unprecedented robotic space missions to study Earth, the Solar System, and the Universe.

JPL, located in Pasadena, California, has a casual, campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.

We are proud to be part of NASA and Caltech, as we explore the universe and make history through new discoveries.

We aim to do things never done before and to go places few can go. We dare mighty things…do you?

    Responsibilities

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory Library has an opportunity for a summer internship focusing on both newer and more traditional library practices: data mining and direct customer service.

Data Mining: The Intern will help us know our patrons better and increase our reach through discovering patterns of interaction in our weekly assessment reports. The Intern will craft a report that shows who we have served (and how) using data from past assessments, as well as potential for closing gaps in service and reach.

Customer service: The Intern will get to be on the front lines assisting our engineers, scientists, and anyone else who needs excellent Library service, and will perform a wide range of general library duties such as circulation, document delivery, interlibrary loan, shelving library materials, and other related outreach duties (library signage and marketing materials design skills a plus!) The Intern will also assist with library programs and displays, including helping set up and take down seating for special events in the JPL Library, and audio/visual setups for these events.
