The Faceted Subject Access Interest Group (FSAIG) provides a forum to discuss the theory and use of vocabularies designed for faceted subject access. Please Join us in Denver to hear presentations and discussions involving the Faceted Application of Subject Terminology (FAST) headings.

Title: Using MARC Facets for Music with Primo: Strategies and Challenges
Many libraries have not yet taken advantage of newer, specialized MARC fields for music, such as medium of performance (382), numeric designation of musical work (383) and musical key (384). This presentation will describe how the Orbis Cascade Alliance has created facets for these fields for Ex Libris' Primo discovery interface using Primo's normalization rules. It will discuss challenges for manipulating the MARC data for coherent display and unresolved usability issues.
