    Description


    Tisch Library supports Tufts’ School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Engineering, providing services and resources to assist members of the Tufts community in their teaching, learning, and research. Tisch Library provides collections, expertise, and technology-rich environments to support the creation and dissemination of scholarship. The Research & Instruction Department works with staff, students, and faculty to incorporate information resources into the curriculum; designs course-based and open workshops; provides research consultation services; and develops new services and programs to support teaching, learning, and scholarship at Tufts. 



    Reporting to the Team Lead for Arts & Humanities, the Research & Instruction Librarian for the Arts & Humanities will support departments in the humanities by designing, teaching, and assessing information literacy instruction; providing research consultations; participating in services and programs that support research and scholarship; offering collection development support for their disciplines; and building deep and collaborative partnerships with students, faculty, and staff. This position will contribute to current and emerging methods of scholarly production in the humanities by providing digital scholarship support services, working collaboratively with colleagues throughout the library. Responsibilities include participation in outreach and campus engagement activities that build partnerships and cultivate relationships with key university units. This librarian will provide instruction in the First-Year Writing program, provide reference services, serve on library committees, and engage in professional development.
     


    Qualifications


     


    Basic Requirements:



    • Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program, or equivalent.

    • Experience with library research tools and scholarly processes relevant to the humanities.

    • Proven ability to thrive in an academic setting by building relationships, working with and supporting students and faculty in academic departments via outreach, research assistance, or teaching.

    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best practices, current issues, and trends in teaching information literacy skills and behaviors.

    • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in digital scholarship in the humanities, such as data visualization, text mining and analysis, image analysis, or 3D visualization and modeling.

    • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment as well as take initiative on independent projects.

    • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

    • Commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in higher education.


    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Advanced degree in the humanities.

    • 3-5 years of library experience preferred.

    • Experience teaching information literacy in an academic library or higher education setting.

    • Experience with project management, including planning, communication, and assessment.

    • Collection development experience.
