Position Details
- Title: Public Services Librarian (Juvenile)
- Location: Outreach Service Section
- Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Schedule: Typically Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 6:00pm, with an occasional Saturday
- Starting Hourly Rate: $18.00
- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

A successful candidate will…
- Have a MLS or MIS degree and an Indiana State Librarian Certificate III
- Have previous experience working with customers face to face.
- Have previous library experience, either via past job or volunteering (preferred).
- Be available to work day, evening, and weekend hours as needed for events.
- Be able to navigate basic computer functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, internet browsing.
- Be bilingual (preferred but not required).
What does the job look like?
- Recommend both print and digital materials to patrons.
- Assist patrons with catalog searches, sourcing information, and basic computer and equipment usage.
- Evaluate materials, including discarding old and recommending new.
- Create displays to promote library resources, services, and events.
- Design and deliver programs for community, including initiating community outreach for new partnerships.
- Assist in collection and analysis of data, including usage, trends, and resources.
- Other job duties as assigned.
- Physical requirements include frequent standing, sitting, lifting, walking, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds, reaching, kneeling, bending and twisting. May occasionally lift more than 25 pounds.
