The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs, and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians.

The IFRT Members Community group is the central hub for discussion, library and events. It is visible to all ALA members but only IFRT members can participate in the conversation.

Giving Tuesday - November 28th - Please give to IFRT Awards - Your Gift will be matched

Nov 26, 2017 02:56 PM

Dear IFRT Members

I have exciting news to share! An anonymous donor is matching gifts made to the ALA Annual Fund as of November 1, through the 2017 Annual Fund campaign. Donations are tax-deductible, and gifts from an individual donor, up to $1,000, are eligible. The match is capped at $10,000 total per ALA unit, and $100,000 overall. #GivingTuesday (November 28) is a social media driven day of giving held in conjunction with the beginning of the holiday season and end-of-year giving.

This day of giving dovetails nicely with IFRT's current fundraising campaign, which is raising funds for its awards program. As you know, our awards recognize notable contributions to intellectual freedom; demonstrations of personal courage and organizational work in defense of freedom of expression; and outstanding published works in the area of intellectual freedom. The IFRT awards include the Hodges Award, the Immroth Award and the Oboler Award.

Each year, our organization fights to protect our freedoms. Together we can support IFRT’s awards program and continue to recognize trailblazers in intellectual freedom.

Please visit ala.org/donate if you wish to make a donation, or explore our IFRT awards below.   Please click on roundtables and then click on IFRT.  Your donation will be formally recognized in the IFRT Annual Report.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Best wishes,

Charles Kratz, IFRT Chair
