    Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, the Assistant Dean, Administrative Services, provides strategic, administrative leadership in the areas of financial management services, facilities management and business services, and human resources management, all of which includes communication and application of related University and library policies and procedures. The Assistant Dean supervises staff and student assistants. She or he may also serve as the Acting Dean in the absence of the Dean and Associate Deans. The position is responsible for responding to the needs of faculty, students, staff, and the public. 

    This position provides leadership and oversight for assigned areas in the position’s portfolio, but also contributes significant hands-on work related to budget development and management, and library-wide evaluation and assessment. The Assistant Dean directly supervises 2.0 FTE officers of administration and 1.0 FTE classified staff, and is responsible for a total permanent staff of nine, plus several student assistants. The position provides leadership as the administrative sponsor for the Evaluation, Assessment, and User Experience Team, the Library Emergency Preparedness and Response Team, the Student Supervisors Group, the Undergraduate Research Award Committee, and ad hoc working groups as needed. The incumbent also serves as a member of the senior-level Administrative Team and Library Council, and participates in appropriate professional development activities and organizations to stay current with trends and practices in the field, and to meet criteria for promotion and retention.
