    The Chicago State University Library seeks reliable, energetic, service-oriented individuals for the position of part-time lecturers in the Reference and Instruction department for weekends and evenings. Library and Information Science professionals who are interested in a user-focused, academic library are encouraged to apply. Lecturers report to Chair of University Library and Instruction Services. Under the direction of the Coordinator of Reference Services, the Reference and Instruction Lecturer will provide general reference and instruction services as part of a team of professionals; and will assist in offering reference and instruction services to support the library’s academic mission. The successful candidate will serve on the library team to offer reference service during off- peak hours. The library is open until midnight most days of the week. Reference services are available up to 10:00pm on days the library building is open until 12:00am. This is a 15-28 hour, 9 month, non-tenure track faculty position. Evenings and weekend hours are required.

    Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    *MLIS or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited program.

    *Reference experience. Strong commitment to quality reference services; proven experience in reference and instruction.

    *Familiarity with emerging trends in library instruction, reference services, information technology, and online library resources.

    *Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds are necessary.

    *The ability to work independently and part of a team is necessary.

    *The ability to understand and maintain department and library policies.
