    The Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon is seeking a dynamic individual to become the Midland Library Manager. As the Midland Regional Manager, you will manage the location’s information services (IS) team; two Regional Librarians, who supports the region’s libraries with their knowledge and skills; and a Library Supervisor, who leads the Access Services staff.   You will respond to security and patron behavioral issues and coach staff who serve as Persons in Charge to support a welcoming and safe environment. You will serve on the System-wide Security Review Team, which provides system-wide oversight on security incidents, including providing peer coaching. You will evaluate access services operations and activities at the library; recommend improvements and modifications; prepare various reports and proposals. At times, you will provide direct reference, readers’ advisory, and circulation services to the public. You will report directly to one of three neighborhood libraries directors. You will also serve as a regional leader.  Our 19 branches are divided into 5 regions.  As a Regional Manager you convene a monthly regional meeting of the three branches in your region, as well as serve on the Regional Manager team, which is an essential leadership team that supports change management, as well as the development of our division’s budget. 


    The Midland Regional Library is the community hub of East Portland, one of the fastest growing parts of Multnomah County.  Last year, Midland had over 427,000 visits, while circulating nearly 1 million items and hosting 1,152 programs. This 25,000 square foot library has a staff of 32 employees. Midland serves a community of rich cultural, economic and linguistic diversity.  Midland has positions with cultural competency in serving the African-American community, and the branch offers culturally relevant programs and outreach to that community.  The branch also has staff who speak Chinese, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
