The Music Library Association (MLA) is now accepting applications for its first Diversity Scholarship Award. This scholarship program, funded by the membership of MLA, offers candidates from under-represented groups an opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in library and information science (MLIS). The goal of the scholarship program's first year is to increase the number of underrepresented racial/ethnic minorities within music librarianship by providing support for master’s-level LIS education.
Students who have applied to or are enrolled in an MLIS program with a concentration, certificate, or courses in music librarianship are eligible to apply for the MLA Diversity Scholarship Award.
The MLA Diversity Scholarship awardee will receive:
--A tuition stipend of $2,250.
--Career guidance provided by the MLA Placement Officer and programs at the MLA Annual Meeting, in addition to the Career Advisory Service.
--Gratis student membership in MLA for one year.
--Gratis registration for the MLA annual conference.
--Automatic consideration for the MLA Kevin Freeman Travel Grant, for possible travel support to attend the MLA Annual Meeting.
