    JOB DESCRIPTION:


    The University of Alabama Libraries seeks a collaborative, analytical, and detail-oriented individual to fulfill the role of Assessment Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Assessment & Government Information, the ideal candidate for this tenure-track position will have the ability to collaborate across all library departments to formulate, establish, and monitor a systematic and sustainable library assessment program. The librarian will oversee University Libraries learning assessments, including oversight of IRB applications, identifying/monitoring meaningful organizational performance indicators, establishing procedures for and monitoring all monthly/annual assessment reporting, basic systems administration, help desk support, as well as user training for all assessment management systems (e.g., LibPAS and LibInsight), and organizing/analyzing assessment data to produce custom reports that support strategic, evidence-based management practices within UA Libraries.


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


     



    • Master's degree in Library & Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited institution or Ph.D. in the social sciences.

    • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods, as well as their appropriate analytical counterparts.

    • Proven ability utilizing software for data organization and analysis (e.g., Excel, Access, SPSS, and NVivo).

    • Ability to successfully initiate, track, and manage projects.

    • Demonstrated ability, interest, and willingness to assume additional and/or new responsibilities, along with the ability to set and model high-performance standards.

    • Ability to conceptualize, articulate, and implement short and long-range goals.

    • Ability to work independently and as a team member to solve problems, using sound judgment in decision-making according to an established timeframe.

    • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, along with skills associated with listening, negotiating, compromising, and adapting.

    •  Proven interpersonal skills evidenced by the ability to work cooperatively and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, faculty, students, and staff.

    • Ability to support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment.

    •  Ability to meet the requirements for tenure and promotion

    • Commitment to conduct research and scholarship consistent with a tenure track faculty appointment; commitment to engage in continuing professional development.


     


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 



    • Advanced degree in applied statistics, or a PhD in the social sciences with experience conducting statistical analyses.

    • Prior experience with library assessment.
