    The University of Delaware Library seeks a creative and dynamic individual for the position of English and American Literature Librarian to join a team of colleagues in the delivery of excellent and responsive research, information and instructional services. This position reports to the Head, Reference and Instructional Services Department.

    The position serves as the Library’s liaison to the English and Theatre Departments, and may assume responsibility for other subjects based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and Library needs.

    The English and American Literature Librarian has responsibility for the provision of instruction, collection development and research support in the assigned subject areas. In collaboration with others, the English and American Literature Librarian also provides general reference services in person and online, including some evening and weekend hours, and provides instruction in the use and searching of electronic and traditional library resources. The position has a reporting responsibility to the Head, Collection Management and Licensed Electronic Content Department for collection-related activities.

    Essential responsibilities include: liaison to assigned communities with the ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships and foster collaborations and partnerships with faculty, students and administrators; provision of the entire range of in-person and online reference services; provision of instruction/information literacy services; building of collections that meet the research and curricular needs of undergraduate and graduate students and faculty; development of content for assigned subject areas including course guides, subject guides and other instructional and outreach materials; and active engagement in professional development and other scholarly activities. The expectation is that this position will involve collaboration with faculty and Library colleagues on digital scholarship projects.
