Research & Instruction Librarian, Augustana College (Illinois)

Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, invites applications for the position of Research & Instruction Librarian beginning August 2017. This is a professional faculty position with faculty rank and voting rights. Augustana College is a selective liberal arts college of 2,500 students, most of whom live on a wooded 115-acre campus. Rock Island, Illinois, is part of the Illinois-Iowa Quad Cities along the Mississippi River, a diverse metropolitan area with 400,000 residents approximately three hours west of Chicago.

The Thomas Tredway Library at Augustana College, winner of the 2006 ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award, seeks a research and instruction librarian with a passion for teaching and supporting undergraduates and a commitment to the role of the library in a liberal arts education. This position includes responsibilities as library liaison to an academic division, as well as a coordinator role to be assigned according to the candidate’s interest and abilities. An academic background or active interest in languages and literature; fine and performing arts; and/or communication studies is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will be a team player who is energetic, motivated, highly organized, skillful in the use of a broad range of information resources, and can work with librarians and classroom faculty in developing new approaches to teaching and assessing information literacy.
