    POSITION DESCRIPTION:


    Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Communications and Planning and with limited supervision, this position focuses on writing a wide array of communications and content for public relations and marketing. Major responsibilities include:



    • Design and produce communication and marketing materials for Libraries and Museums including announcements, publications, videos, speeches, and digital content for displays, webpages and social media.

    • Coordinate dissemination of communication and marketing materials.

    • Provide planning and marketing support for Libraries and Museums events and initiatives.

    • Present complex and diverse types of information in interesting and understandable manner.

    • Develop unique, cross-platform creative digital content in various formats: video, banners, infographics, websites, social media and print.

    • Collaborate with communications team and staff throughout the Libraries and Museums to plan, create and coordinate creative assets, such as calling attention to the Library’s digital collections that can be accessed online by individuals around the world.

    • Execute design projects on a tight timeline and deliver high-quality content that drives engagement and advances the goals of the Libraries and Museums.

    • Monitor and maintain digital assets and analyze metrics to create both short-term and long-range optimization recommendations.

    • Participate in development and implementation of best practices for web and social media.

    • Assist in the coordination and distribution of social media messaging.

    • Research emerging tools, trends, and platforms to develop strategies and best practices for communications and marketing.

    • Maintain awareness of Library’s changing priorities, programs, initiatives and constituencies to generate content for communications and marketing.

    • Ensure brand and message consistency across all materials so they meet established standards of appearance, content and style.

    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned


    QUALIFICATIONS:


    REQUIRED:


     



    •  Bachelor degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field and two (2) years of relevant work experience.

    • Skilled in utilizing content management systems (preferably WordPress) and social media management tools (preferably Hootsuite).

    • Experience developing and executing digital communication strategies to align with audience behaviors, goals and key messages with calls to action to drive engagement.

    • Ability to evaluate and edit the content, structure, and format of a range of written and visual materials.

    • Familiarity with user-centered design principles, content creation and engagement, and digital best practices.

    • Experience with a variety of digital communication vehicles, including mobile, e-mail, social media, video and web communications (e.g., MailChimp, etc.).

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent composition and proof -reading abilities.

    • Knowledge and experience with current communication technology, as well as learning orientation to changing technology.

    • Ability to perform detailed and accurate work.

    • Ability to provide technical assistance regarding the printing and publication of promotional materials.

    • Advanced proficiency and understanding of web design and ability to apply web design principles and techniques to the creation and enhancement of integrated, complex web sites.

    • Strong organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously, meet deadlines, and prioritize work.

    • Creativity, initiative, flexibility, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, future-oriented environment.

    •  Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage client expectations and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.

    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a culturally diverse environment.


     


    PREFERRED:


     



    • Marketing, branding, and communication background.

    • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

    • Experience with video production and editing in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere or iMovie as well as photography and digital image editing
