    POSITION DESCRIPTION 


    The J. Murrey Atkins Library at UNC Charlotte invites applications for a Health & Human Services Librarian to provide research support for students and faculty in the academic programs of the College of Health & Human Services. As an engaged faculty librarian in Research & Instructional Services, the person in this position will design and teach instructional sessions, provide in-depth, specialized research consultation and reference services, and assist with collection development for assigned academic programs.


     REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



    • Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association



    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



    • Professional experience in an academic library, health sciences library, or relevant clinical setting.

    • Two or more years of instructional or liaison experience in an academic research library

    •  Experience with systematic reviews and evidence-based practice protocols

    •  Familiarity with relevant health and human services databases (such as CINAHL, PubMed, Medline, Social Services Abstracts, or other related resources)

    •  Knowledge of the research needs of students and faculty at a Doctoral Intensive Institution

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently

    • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and to create an environment of mutual respect

    •  Knowledge of relevant professional and technological issues in assigned areas

    •  Ability to work effectively in an organization in which change is both necessary and constant

    • Demonstrated commitment to exceptional public service

    • Intellectual curiosity and adaptability
