POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Calder Library at the Miller School of Medicine is seeking a full time Librarian Assistant Professor to provide focused and professional research and reference service to medical school students, residents, faculty, and staff; coordinate Bibliographic Search Requests; manage and further develop Calder’s Systematic Reviews service; , conduct Literature Reviews, Systematic Reviews, and meta-analyses for patrons; train library patrons on use of electronic resources and citation management databases such as PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and other relevant medical databases; provide research assistance and reference services to faculty and other medical campus library patrons; consult with graduate students and faculty on individual or group research projects; serve as Library Liaison with departments on campus; provide assistance for compliance with the NIH Public Access mandate; work regularly scheduled hours at the University of Miami (UMH) Library branch; participate in the Personal Librarian Program (PLP) for medical students; plan instruction in collaboration with medical school faculty; teach seminars/classes for students, residents, faculty, and staff on the use of medical, nursing, and health sciences related services and resources; collaborate with faculty and library staff to plan, deliver, and assess library and instructional technology services; provide evidence-based practice and information literacy instruction.
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of medical, health sciences, and statistical resources to support doctoral student and faculty research projects; demonstrate experience teaching and using these resources; and have experience using web technologies for instruction.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent library degree.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an academic health sciences library.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Systematic Reviews.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Ability to work productively with colleagues in a team-focused environment as well as independently.
- Strong social, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Project management experience.
- Technology troubleshooting; working knowledge of Blackboard or other course management systems, MS Office, and presentation software.
