  • 1.  Nominations for Depository Library Council (DLC)

    Posted Nov 29, 2016 09:12 AM

    Everyone,

GODORT Nominating Committee is asking for nominations for five 3-year appointments to the Depository Library Council (DLC).  Being part of this Council is a fantastic way to steer forward our world of depository libraries and the Federal Depository Library Program. Working with both the Government Publishing Office and federal depository librarians, this is an opportunity to play a major role in securing access, management, and preservation of our changing world of government information.

This website below explains the DLC more clearly:

For priority consideration, we would like to have nominations by 12/12/2016.

If you are an ALA member and are interested in nominating a colleague (making sure they are willing, of course) or nominating yourself, please contact me:

A quick note to let everyone know that DLC is working on finalizing some guidelines for how we can best select council members. Director Vance-Cooks asked us to make the selection criteria and process at the GPO-level more transparent, so we are working on documentation.

The important thing to know now is: YOU are qualified.

We need diverse viewpoints on Council, and that means we need librarians with different backgrounds and levels of experience. Do not assume you must be a "famous" docs librarian or have long experience in a huge depository to be on Council. If you're interested in working with GPO and the community and are committed to the importance of government information in service to our patrons, you are the librarian we need on council!

I am happy to answer questions you may have here or individually (scott.matheson@yale.edu). Any other Council member would also be happy to describe the duties and time commitment involved. Once you're ready to join us, contact Antionette!
