    The University of North Texas Health Science Center Gibson D. Lewis Library serves as a Regional Medical Library (RML) for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine South Central Region (NN/LM SCR). As the RML, we coordinate outreach services and provide programming on behalf of the National Library of Medicine throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

    We invite applications for a Consumer Health Coordinator. We seek a creative and enthusiastic librarian to join our team-based environment. This person enjoys networking and building sustainable relationships. The coordinator will develop educational and outreach programming for a wide range of audiences, including community-based organizations, public libraries, and the general public.


     


    POSITION DESCRIPTION:


    The Consumer Health Outreach Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine South Central Region (NN/LM SCR) coordinates and implements the consumer health information program within the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

The coordinator will develop educational and outreach programming for a wide range of audiences, including community-based organizations, public libraries, and the general public.

    The successful candidate will be committed to providing service and developing partnerships with key stakeholders. Individuals with public library, academic library, outreach programming, health information instruction, or other relevant experience are encouraged to apply.


    QUALIFICATIONS: 


    The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:


    ALA Accredited MLS or equivalent, minimum of 2 years professional experience.


    * Excellent teaching and presentation skills
    * Working knowledge of PubMed, MedlinePlus and other NLM databases
    * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    * Ability to work in a team environment
    * Excellent written and oral communication skills
    * A valid driver's license and overnight travel is required
    Preferred Qualifications The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:


    * Experience promoting library services and programs
    * Background in identifying and providing consumer health information
