    Carol Grotnes Belk Library at Elon University invites applications for the position of Archives Librarian and Elon Collections Archivist. We are seeking a dynamic, driven, and innovative archives librarian who is committed to cross-functional librarianship, interested in working in a creative and collaborative library environment, and eager to engage in the daily life of the university community. This archivist will be instrumental in the acquisition, processing, reference, and promotion of archival collections chiefly relating to university history and will provide leadership in the management of university records. The archivist will work alongside colleagues to enhance and increase discoverability of archival materials both physical and electronic, to enrich and support campus wide initiatives, and to create a robust and nimble archival repository.

    Responsibilities Include:
    • Provides dynamic leadership in the management of electronic and physical records generated by the University; including coordinating the appraisal, acquisition, and preservation of institutional records;
    • Creates, maintains, and promotes the intellectual and physical access of Elon materials through the collection, organization, and discoverability of special collections and archival content;
    • Develops a depth of knowledge in University history and actively engages with campus partners to enrich and support campus wide initiatives;
    • Proactively contributes to the outreach, marketing, and use of University Archives & Special Collections materials, including classroom instruction and the curation of physical and virtual exhibits;
    • As a faculty librarian, serves as a member of a collaborative cross-functional library team, shares in evening and weekend reference responsibilities, contributes to library committees and activities, and participates in local, state, regional, and national professional organizations.
    Required Qualifications:
    • A master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program in library, and/or information science;
    • Knowledge and ability to apply appropriate archival theory, standards, and practices;
    • Familiarity with archival discovery tools;
    • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with others and independently;
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Commitment to professional development in areas of librarianship, professional activity, and service.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of trends and emerging technologies in archival practice;
    • Experience working with digital assets, including born digital records;
    • Familiarity with archival tools and technology such as ContentDM, Omeka, Archive-It, ArchivesSpace;
    • Understanding of institutional records and records management principles.

    This is a 12-month, non-tenured faculty position which reports directly to the University Archivist.
