    Description:

    The Palo Alto City Library is looking for an energetic librarian with excellent collaborative and communication skills to work at the Rinconada Library. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to customer service, Adult Programming and community engagement.  

    Work Schedule: 
    Sunday-Thursday and an evening shift.

    Reports To: Various Library Managers or Supervisors
    Supervises: Non-supervisory position may monitor and assign work to clerical, temporary, para-professional and volunteer staff.

    Distinguishing Characteristics:

    The Librarian classification is the professional entry level classification within the Library Department. The Librarian has the professional knowledge to identify, develop, interpret, implement and evaluate all policies, procedures, programs and services to ensure the best quality of service to public library users. It is a broad classification which covers a variety of work situations which require expertise in areas of primary responsibility, as well as in common areas such as materials selection, public library service, and computerized information systems. Significant portion of workday includes direct public contact.
