    Position: Access Services Librarian
    Academic Staff, Annual, Full-time Appointment


    The Access Services Librarian oversees the Access Services department, reports to the Director of the Library and serves as a member of the Library’s management team, playing a leadership role in collaborative development of Library policies and strategic plans. The position is responsible for setting, implementing, assessing and reporting on short- and long-term operational goals and objectives for the Access Services Department.


    Responsibilities:
    1. Plan, coordinate, and manage the overall operation of the Department including circulation, stacks maintenance, interlibrary loan, document delivery, reserves, and study room reservations (Library is open 107.5 hours/week during regular semester).
    2. Designs jobs, hires, trains, and evaluates employees.
    3. Supervise 5 – 6 FTE employees.
    4. Supervise Library Public Relations Coordinator to support the development and success of outreach events and activities.
    5. Collects library use, circulation, interlibrary lending and document delivery statistics.
    6. Participates in the assessment and analysis of workflows, automation tools and library services platforms as part of changing needs in circulation and ILL.
    7. Maintain accurate and timely student billing procedures and adhere to University cash handling and financial reporting protocols.
    8. Assist patrons at the Circulation Desk.
    9. In consultation with the Systems Librarian, manage circulation and resource sharing functions in the library system.
    10. Serve as a backup to the Systems Librarian in maintaining public computers and library systems.
    11. Represent the Library on campus and statewide committees.
    12. Some weekend and evening rotation is expected.
    13. Will be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
    14. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    Required:
    • ALA-accredited MLS.
    • Strong management, supervisory and organizational leadership skills with demonstrated experience in a lead or supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Progressive supervisory and administrative experience.
    • Circulation management experience.
    • Experience managing an automated circulation system and related statistical collection and analysis.
    • Knowledge of ILL and circulation policies and processes in an academic environment.
    • Ability to work with diverse patron and staff populations.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
    • Experience training and developing staff and student assistants, including team building
    • Analytical and problem solving skills, as well as organizational and planning skills.
    • Strong commitment to public service and positive public relations.


    Preferred:
    • Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in circulation, interlibrary loan, course reserves, and document delivery.
    • Ability to plan, organize, and implement projects with attention to priorities and detail.
    • Experience using and troubleshooting a broad range of computing and audio-visual devices such as printers, tablets, or projectors.
