    Children’s Librarian Bilingual (Spanish) – Full Time
    Hours: 35 hours per week. The schedule will include one evening per week and one Saturday per month minimum. Scheduling flexibility is required.
    Salary: $40,000-$50,000 based on experience. Full benefits package.
    Start Date: ASAP
    Education: MLS from an accredited institution and a NJ Professional Librarian Certificate required. However, candidates that are currently enrolled in an accredited MLS program and who have completed at least 20 credits will be considered. A NJ Professional Librarian Certificate will be required within 3 months of program completion.
    The Plainfield Public Library is seeking a Bilingual (Spanish) Children’s Librarian to join our staff as part of our award winning library’s “Reading Rainforest”. The successful candidate will be results-oriented, possesses a great attitude, demonstrates creativity and innovation, has excellent attention to detail and is comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
    Qualifications:
     Spanish fluency (REQUIRED)
     Experience in planning and presenting creative programming for Children (REQUIRED).
    o Familiarity with STEM/STEAM programming is preferred.
     Strong commitment to outstanding customer service.
     Demonstrates a patron centered attitude and a professional, team-oriented working relationship with staff, coworkers, and volunteers.
     Creative, flexible, and innovative.
     Ability to use new media and social networking tools to promote reading and learning.
     Knowledge of children’s literature and collection development methods.
     Proficiency in the use of online technologies, library automation systems (Sirsi preferred), and Microsoft Office software.
     Ability to coordinate outreach activities with local schools and organizations.
     Experience with the design and creation of flyers, posters, and other marketing materials in English and Spanish.
