    This position is a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor – starting August 2016. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

    Job Summary:
    Helps develop all library print and electronic collections. Assists patrons in locating and obtaining informational material by performing the following duties:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (in no particular order)
    Furnishes information on library activities, facilities, rules and services.
    Explains and assists in use of reference resources including electronic databases, online catalogs, the traditional book and serials collections and the Lincoln University archives.
    Describes and demonstrates effective procedures for navigating the online public access catalog (OPAC) and electronic resources like EBSCO host and Ethnic News Watch.
    Search independently or in conjunction with the patron to locate and deliver requested subject information.
    Answer queries on complicated reference subjects, including formulating and processing online search requests.
    Participates in library outreach programs and conducts library tours.
    Provides information instruction sessions and actively participates in the development and design of classes on the use of the library and its recourses.
    Helps evaluate, organize and maintain all library collections.
    Compiles and edits library user guides, libguides, etc., in both print and electronic formats.
    Assists in reference collection development, special collections development and general collection development.
    Helps obtain, catalog and classify archival materials.
    Investigates new technologies and databases as they become available.
    Helps with the annual library budget projections and financial reports.
    Keeps statistics for assessment and evaluation purposes.
    Participates in faculty committee assignments.
    Participate in grant writing.
    All other relevant duties as assigned by the Director of University Libraries.
    Qualifications:
    Earned Masters in Library Science/Information Science.
    2nd earned Masters in Humanities/Social Science/Pure Sciences helpful.
    Two years professional academic library experience.
    Experience with automated library systems.
    Supervisory experience, a plus.
    Strong reference skills.
    Strong archival skills a plus.
    Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
    Must be able to make decisions supporting the department’s mission and goals.
    Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects and prioritize based on departmental functionality.
    Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written.
    Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a culturally diverse organization.
    Must be able to learn and become proficient with campus computing programs.
    Have a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
    Working conditions:
    The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
