    POSITION:      Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Librarian
    AVAILABLE:    August 1, 2016


    The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an innovative, creative, collaborative, and service-oriented librarian to advance undergraduate teaching and learning in the University Library. Working with a team of librarians at the House Undergraduate Library, this individual will lead instructional initiatives, spearhead undergraduate-centered user engagement activities, and explore technologies that impact undergraduate education.


    The Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Librarian is the liaison to the First Year Writing Program and will lead the library’s information literacy instruction program. They will schedule information literacy sessions, train and mentor student instructors from the School of Information and Library Science, and provide assignment design support to FYWP instructors. This staff member will explore and pilot new ways of engaging with students by collaborating with key campus partners and will lead relevant service assessment projects. This position will contribute to the development of the University Library’s web-based instructional tools, with an emphasis on undergraduate-centered services and resources.


    The librarian in this position reports to the Head of the R.B. House Undergraduate Library.


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


    ·      ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, or a related advanced degree


    ·      Experience teaching or providing library instruction


    ·      Experience providing user-centered research services


    ·      Experience using instructional technology to support student learning


    ·      Strong written and oral communication skills


    ·      Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities


    ·      Self-motivated, with strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration


    ·      Commitment to supporting a diverse student and faculty population


     


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


    ·      Minimum two years of relevant professional experience


    ·      Significant coursework in Education or Education-related field


    ·      Experience working with first-year students


    ·      Experience collaborating with instructors and campus partners to support student learning


    ·      Experience assessing library services


    ·      Experience with mentoring and supervising student staff

    Salary and Benefits
    This is a twelve-month academic librarian appointment.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Standard state benefits of annual leave, sick leave, and State or optional retirement plan.
