    Greetings Scholars!


     

    In a continuing effort to build our Spectrum community, take a moment to read and celebrate the following honors and accomplishments of your fellow Scholars:

     

    Melanie Townsend Diggs (1998 Scholar), Pennsylvania Avenue Branch Manager of Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt Free Library, has been selected as the recipient of the 2016 Lemony Snicket Prize for Noble Librarians Faced with Adversity.


    Kelvin Watson (2006 Scholar),Chief Innovation and Technology Officer at Queens Library (Queens, New York), has been named the 2016 inaugural winner of ALA’s Ernest A. DiMattia Award for Innovation and Service to Community and Profession.

    Janice Murray (2008 Scholar) was recently promoted to Director of the Satellite Beach Public Library in Brevard County, FL.


    Veronica Arellano Douglas (2005 Scholar) and Celia Rabinowitz recently published “Examining the Relationship between Faculty-Librarian Collaboration and First-Year Students’ Information Literacy Abilities” in the March 2016 issue of College & Research Libraries.


    Brittany Viesca (2015 Scholar) was recently hired as the School Library Media Specialist at Lois and Jerry Tarkanian Middle School in Las Vegas, Nevada.


    Stacie Williams (2010 Scholar) was selected as 2016 Digital Library Federation Forum Keynote Speaker.


    Amanda Moreno (2014 Scholar) was selected as a 2016 SALALM Conference Scholarship Winner. 


    April Hathcock (2012 Scholar) presented "White Librarianship in Blackface: Oppressive Normativity and Diversity Initiatives in LIS" at the 2016 Gender and Sexuality in Information Studies Symposium
