PBA agenda

Dear PBA colleague:

The Planning and Budget Assembly agenda just went out, so I wanted to provide some context on our discussion topics for this upcoming session.

The first topic for the session will be ALA’s budget: our year end results for 2015, our year to date status for 2016, and our current assumptions regarding 2017 and beyond.  The Treasurer and BARC Chair will both be presenting their full reports at the ALA Council/Executive Board/Membership Information session on Saturday, January 9th from 3-4:30 pm. We would strongly urge that you attend that session, as the reports presented at PBA will be very brief recaps of these presentations, and our focus will primarily be on any questions you may have.

Our major area of focus will be President Elect Julie Todaro’s presidential initiative, which is in its planning stage. As part of the agenda, we have set aside a block of time for Julie to talk about her planning to date and to provide you with an opportunity to discuss and share your thoughts on her initiative.

Last, we will be providing brief updates on ALA publishing and ALA Information Technology.  Both of these have been a focus of intense member interest over the last year or so, and both have a major impact on the work we all do.

At this point, we would like to invite you to let us know if there are any other topics you’d like to discuss, or for us to address. Our goal is to make the session as informative as possible, while at the same time providing an opportunity for you to share your thoughts on these and other planning and budget issues.
