    Hello,

For many ALA members, December is renewal time.  If you are retired or nearing retirement or just want to support the Retired Members Round Table (RMRT), consider joining our group for $20/year.  Remember, if you are retired and were an ALA member for 25 consecutive years, you are eligible to receive a lifetime ALA membership -- you only have to pay for your divisions and Round Table memberships.  A great deal and a great way to stay involved in your professional association!

For more information about RMRT, go to www.ala.org/rmrt

Thank you and if you have questions, feel free to contact Teri Switzer, RMRT Membership Committee Chair, tswitzer@uccs.edu.

Does ALA send out reminders to members who have reached year 25 about other sections and roundtables?

No, you must call membership services to find out how many years you have of continuous membership.  They do not send out a reminder.  I renew in Feb 2016 and will have 23 years.  I am closing the gap!!!

I just had this conversation with a friend at AASL. She pulled out her membership card with 28 years of continuous membership and she had not been contacted/notified so she was going to follow up right away!

Upon retiring, every member should check http://www.ala.org/membership/ala-personal-membership because there are retiree rates for some divisions and round tables as well as a retired category for those who don't have 25 continuous years.
