Beth Ghostraven will lead a tour of a variety of libraries in Second Life, followed by a discussion: "What makes a library?"

Beth S. O’Connell (Beth Ghostraven in virtual worlds) , a school librarian since 1998, has worked with Kindergarten through 12th grade students and holds a Master of Education (School Library Media) degree from James Madison University. She is adept at balancing student needs with maintaining the library collection, assisting teachers with professional development and curriculum design, and running daily library operations.

Beth came to Second Life in 2012 to network with VSTE (Virginia Society for Technology in Education), and quickly found other education groups for which she publicizes and facilitates events. She attends several inworld events weekly, and enjoys helping people connect with others. She is a VSTE Facilitator, the Producer for the ISTE Focus series, and publishes the weekly transcript for VWER (the Virtual Worlds Education Roundtable). She also owns the Book & Tankard Pub in Victorian Steampunk Caledon in Second Life. Beth is also involved with VSTE’s Minecraft server, and initiated an outpost for VSTE on AvaCon’s Open Simulator grid.

A joint session with the ALA Virtual Communities in Libraries MIG will follow the tour.  Anyone interested in invited to attend.
