Summary of Current Activities, September 2015

The Health and Medical Reference Committee (HMRC) is currently engaged in creating a list of resources to be added to the Health and Medical Reference Committee website (http://www.ala.org/rusa/health-and-medical-reference-committee). Member Ann Glusker has submitted a brief list of top-level sites to the committee. The list is meant to point library staff at all types of libraries in the right direction toward answering health related reference questions. While not meant to be a comprehensive list of health sciences sites, it is hopefully a good place for those new to health and medical reference to start. This website is on the agenda for our upcoming meeting, Tuesday, September 14th, 2-3 pm, Central Time. (See meeting announcement for details.)

The HMRC is also developing programming for ALA Annual 2016 in conjunction with ACRL's Health Sciences Interest Group. The two groups hope to create a joint Discussion Forum that uses the new Health and Medical Reference Guidelines as a training tool for both professional and para professional library staff in answering health related reference questions.

Respectfully submitted,

Laura Haines
