The mission of the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) is to (1) To provide a forum for discussion of problems, concerns, and for exchange of ideas by librarians working with government documents; (2) to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs to increase availability, use, and bibliographic control of documents; (3) to increase communication between documents librarians and other librarians; (4) to contribute to the extension and improvement of education and training of documents librarians.

    With pleasure I announce a new GODORT Oral History for your reading enjoyment!

    Enjoy a mid-career oral history of our cherished colleague Bill Sleeman, Assistant Librarian for Technical Services and Special Collections at the Supreme Court of the United States Library. Prior to his current position, he served as the Associate Librarian for Technical Services at the Thurgood Marshall Law Library, University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Bill has also worked at the Center for Sex Equity in Schools, The University of Michigan; The Enoch Pratt Free Library; The Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of the State of Maryland; OPIC; and, The U.S. Department of the Interior Library.

    In 2007 Bill served as GODORT Chair and was selected by Library Journal as one of its “Movers and Shakers” for his work in advocating for access to government information. Bill has been a frequent speaker and writer on issues of access to government information and on the history of government publishing.
