Warning message

The launch of the new ALA Connect, scheduled for April 25, 2018, has been delayed due to technical issues. During final testing some critical issues related to navigation, tagging, and the structure of parent-child relationships were discovered.

The vendor is working to resolve these issues. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience.

While we're waiting to get started, please check out the resources and training on the support site. We'll keep you updated, in particular, we will communicate when we have a firm launch date.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Pam Akins, Community Engagement Specialist, at alaconnectmigration@ala.org.

ALA Annual 2015 Discussion Question #6: For reference education, what can we as a profession do to provide students with a balance between theory and practice? For example, how can we provide and advocate for more reference practicums and internships?

We will pose this question during our discussion forum at ALA Annual. The forum is titled What Should be The Future of Reference Education for Librarians (see http://alaac15.ala.org/node/29464).

If you will not be there or if you would like to share your thoughts in advance, please feel free to do so here.

For reference education, what can we as a profession do to provide students with a balance between theory and practice? For example, how can we provide and advocate for more reference practicums and internships? What other information service opportunities might contribute to that experience?
