How Much Punch Does that Program Pack? Best Practices to Evaluate Program Success

When:
Saturday, June 27, 2015
3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, US/Pacific

Librarians who host programs in their library can agree that counting attendance will never tell the holistic story of whether a program was a success or failure. Panelists will discuss different methods for measuring a program’s impact. Hear strategies from an academic library that ensures programs and exhibits support and add to the curriculum. Also learn about two public libraries and a school library system that use data to drive programming decisions. ALA’s Public Programming Office will also give an update on their work on the NILPPA (National Impact of Library Public Programs Assessment) planning grant. Janie Hermann, Public Programming Librarian, Princeton Public Library, NJ; Sarah Searles, District Specialist in Library Media Services, Knox County Schools, TN; Linda Garvin, Director of Library Services, Edmonton Public Library, AB; and Kathleen Webb, Dean of University of Dayton Libraries, OH. The discussion will be moderated by Erin Shea, Branch Supervisor, Ferguson Library, CT. Sponsored by the ALA Public Programs Office and the Public and Cultural Programs Advisory Committee (PCPAC).
