Meeting was called to order at 1:00 pm by Ashley Jones.
A guided imagery was conducted by Madeleine.
Ashley made introductions.
Rebekkah reviewed the Resolution on the Importance of Sustainable Libraries that was passed by the New York Library Association and the possibility of a similar version being adopted by the American Library Association. There was general agreement on this approach. Peter outlined a process to adopt using the membership meeting at Annual to build excitement for the resolution.
It was mentioned to use various avenues to collect input on the resolution: social media, ALA Connect. Then cap that time and distill.
The election for Coordinator-Elect will be coming this year. Those interested are expected to register on ALA’s site by February 6.
There was no treasurer’s report.
A draft house keeping calendar was developed by Ashley showing when items need to be completed by to stay current within ALA.
The lightning rounds will be held again at ALA Annual in San Francisco. Looking to increase participation and interest in the session and the section. Madeline is looking for someone to chair the program.
Andy is going to help with exploring virtual options of presenting our programs.
Project Team Updates
1) Online Education – Use Lightning Rounds as proving ground for webinar. May also add a submission process.
2) Governance Tag Team – Will be working to address conference sustainability.
3) Environmental Scan – Google form is up and running collecting responses. Will need to refresh and remind.
4) Marketing and Outreach – Kerry is staying on to edit the website. Rebekkah and Kerry are working on a two part plan: membership and talking points about sustainability. They are planning a meeting.
Peter shared some notes from ALA Executive Board. Registration for Mid Winter is up over 2014. School librarians are being promoted in advocacy efforts, “School Libraries Transform Education.” Strategic planning for the Association is moving to a three-year cycle. Overall membership is down.
Meeting adjourned at 2:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Matthew Bollerman, Secretary
