Info. Lit. Standards Cmte feedback on revised draft Framework

On June 17, the ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education Task Force released it’s revised draft of the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education for review and comment. Submit your feedback via the online form by July 15. Attend the in person hearing on June 28 or sign up in advance for an online hearing July 7 or 11.

The ACRL Information Literacy Standards Committee sent feedback to the task force, see PDF below, and it has been shared with the ACRL Board of Directors.

The task force will modify the Framework as needed based on this last round of feedback gathered through the in-person and online hearings, as well as responses via the online survey. They expect to submit a final document to the ACRL Board in August 2014 for their consideration and approval in September 2014. Of course, this timeline may change, based on the feedback received, but this is the current intention.

Before a final document is ready to submit to the ACRL Board for consideration (target date August 25, 2014) two other ACRL groups are charged to review and provide feedback on near final drafts; these groups are the ACRL Information Literacy Standards Committee and the ACRL Standards Committee.

I look forward to hearing more about how the transition will proceed.

Just one quick note: I feel compelled (perhaps due to Grammar Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) to point out that "it's" is only used to indicate "it is" while "its" is the possessive form. Probably just a typo.

Thanks for keeping the process transparent. These are exciting times for libraries! :)
