ANMIG December Chat-Finding “other” job opportunities: Fellowships, Librarian residences, and Internships
The job market can be a tough place for new professionals who are trying to break into the field of librarianship. Landing the dream job might not occur immediately but there are other great short term opportunities that can help you jumpstart a career. This chat will expose these “other” opportunities such as fellowships, librarian residences, and internships. ALCTS New Members Interest Group (ANMIG) has compiled a bibliography for this chat (see below), which highlights the various programs that have been created to help new library and information science professionals get on their feet. Discussion topics that will be covered during this chat include how these “other” opportunities work and the benefits of choosing this type of employment. Please come with your questions and be prepared for an informative session. Heylicken “Hayley” Moreno, ANMIG Member-at-Large will be your host along with the assistance of Julie Housknecht, ALCTS ANMIG Secretary. The chat will be on December 4th from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. EST and is open to all ALA members. To join the chat: http://connect.ala.org/node/214407
