Warning message

The launch of the new ALA Connect, scheduled for April 25, 2018, has been delayed due to technical issues. During final testing some critical issues related to navigation, tagging, and the structure of parent-child relationships were discovered.

The vendor is working to resolve these issues. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience.

While we're waiting to get started, please check out the resources and training on the support site. We'll keep you updated, in particular, we will communicate when we have a firm launch date.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Pam Akins, Community Engagement Specialist, at alaconnectmigration@ala.org.

Linked Library Data Interest Group Annual Report

Linked Library Data Interest Group sponsored two managed discussions; each discussion began with presentations as follows:

at Midwinter in Seattle: David Talley from the Learning Linked Data Project talked about that project. Discussions across 5 round tables followed featuring, as table facilitators, both Joe Tennis and Mike Crandall from the same Learning Linked Data Project. 40-50 people attended. Details of that discussion can be found at http://connect.ala.org/node/199774.

At Annual in Chicago: Jackie Shieh of George Washington University spoke about her library’s experience as a BIBFRAME Early Experimenters. Discussions across 7 round tables followed. 60-70 people attended. Details of that discussion can be found at http://connect.ala.org/node/210023.

In addition:

  • a former co-chair’s term ended (Deb Shapiro’s) and a new co-chair (Sarah Quimby) started her two year term.
  • The group held a business meeting at the LITA All-Committees session at MidWinter to discuss various topics.
  • IG officers met at the LITA IG & Committee Chairs meeting in Chicago, mostly to discuss programming for 2014.

Respectfully submitted by Theo Gerontakos.
