Junk Food, Beer & Books: Intellectual Freedom in a Commercialized World
10:30 am to 11:30 am, US/Central
Children's departments in libraries are not immune to participating in the increasing commercialization of childhood. Susan Linn, author of The Case for Make Believe: Saving Play in a Commercialized World and Consuming Kids: The Hostile Takeover of Childhood, will discuss the importance of providing commercial-free time and space for children through programming choices and thoughtful sponsorships.
Directly following the program will be a book sale and signing. Program is sponsored in-part by The New Press.
