The ASCLA/ICAN Collaborative Digitization Interest Group will meet on Saturday, 29 June, 4:30-5:30 PM at MCP – S505a. The meeting will feature three presentations that spotlight collaborative digitization ventures at regional and national levels.

TRAIL: Technical Report Archive and Image Library (Mel DeSart, University of Washington): TRAIL was started in 2006 as a digitization project of the Greater Western Alliance, after engineering librarians lamented the poor access to technical report literature. Now a grassroots project run by (primarily) engineering and government documents across the country, TRAIL has digitized well over 40,000 technical reports – and it is still growing.

DALNET: Making Collaborative Digitization Projects Possible (Steven K. Bowers and Cathy Wolford, Detroit Area Library Network): DALNET is a consortium of multi-type libraries that supports various member institution digitization projects through collaboration and shared resources. This presentation will highlight specific examples of financial, technological, and collaborative networking resources, as well as a view of a non-traditional digitization project.

DPLA: Service Hubs and Content Hubs (Emily Gore, Digital Public Library of America): This presentation will feature the latest update on DPLA and explain how Service Hubs and Content Hubs are working, including the metadata clean-up going on within the Service Hubs. Find out how you can participate in DPLA.

Following the presentations and discussion, the Interest Group will elect a new chair. Interested parties may contact the current chair, Rhonda Marker, at rmarker@rci.rutgers.edu by Friday, 21 June 2013.
