MAGIRT is proud to sponsor 2013 ALA Emerging Leader Jessica Clemons.

The Map and Geospatial Information Roundtable (MAGIRT) will sponsor Jessica Clemons to participate in the American Library Association's Emerging Leader Program.  The Emerging Leader Program begins with a daylong session at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Seattle, Washington. Afterward, it grows and develops in an online learning and networking environment for six months.  The program culminates with a poster session presentation to display the results of the project planning work of each group at the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois.

Jessica Clemons is a 2008 graduate of the MLS program at Clarion University of Pennsylvania and is currently working as Assistant Librarian at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, New York.  Jessica is also working on a Master's degree in GIS (Geographic Information Science) at the Pennsylvania State University World Campus, with an estimated graduation date of 2013.

The American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leaders program is a leadership development program which enables newer library workers from across the country to participate in problem-solving work groups, network with peers, gain an inside look into ALA structure, and have an opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity. It puts participants on the fast track to ALA committee volunteerism as well as other professional library-related organizations.  For more information on this program, see http://www.ala.org/educationcareers/leadership/emergingleaders

MAGIRT is one of 19 round tables in the American Library Association. Formed in 1980, MAGIRT--with close to 400 members the world's largest map library organization--provides a forum for people interested or involved in any aspect of map or geography librarianship.  For more information about MAGIRT, see http://www.ala.org/magirt/
