Dear Map and Geographic Information Librarians,

Greetings!  You are being invited to take part in the project Geographic Information Librarianship (GIL). The study is funded by the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program grant via the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).  You are being invited to take part in this research study because you are a critical agent in identifying the importance of knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job.  The survey will ask you about your personal perceptions and opinions about your work experiences.

I know your time is valuable, but by taking a brief moment out of your busy schedule to participate in this study, you will contribute to library and information science education by informing curricula with empirical data from actual practice.  In addition, these findings will help to start the discussion for a potential revision of the Map and Geographic Information Round Table's (MAGIRT) Core Competencies.

If you choose to participate, you will be asked questions related to your role as a GIS and/or Map Librarian. The survey will take 20 - 30 minutes.  Your responses will not be linked to any personal identifier or name.
