Warning message

The launch of the new ALA Connect, scheduled for April 25, 2018, has been delayed due to technical issues. During final testing some critical issues related to navigation, tagging, and the structure of parent-child relationships were discovered.

The vendor is working to resolve these issues. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience.

While we're waiting to get started, please check out the resources and training on the support site. We'll keep you updated, in particular, we will communicate when we have a firm launch date.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Pam Akins, Community Engagement Specialist, at alaconnectmigration@ala.org.

Storytelling Discussion Group report ALA annual 2012

ASSOCIATION FOR LIBRARY SERVICE TO CHILDREN

DISCUSSION GROUP FORM: CONFERENCE MEETING REPORT

Name of Discussion Group: ____Storytelling DiscussionGroup_____________

Discussion Group Convener/s:      Mary Morgan Smith

Meeting Time: _Sunday, 1:30pm      Meeting Place: Anaheim Convention Center 205B

IN ATTENDANCE: Mary Morgan Smith

DISCUSSION TOPIC: none

SUMMARY OF DISCUSSION: The discussion group usually does not
meet in summer because we attend the SFASE. I did receive questions throughout
the weekend about the Stories for a Saturday Evening program. (I did not get
paperwork in on time.)

FUTURE PLANS:

1. Acquire another convenor. Most of those
interested to date could not make all or most of the conferences. I want to
look at finding a virtual co-convenor to see what we can do together, and will
contact some of those who could not attend conference.

2. Work on returning Stories for a Saturday Evening to the
ALA agenda. The program began as a general ALA program, I believe.

3. Work with the National Storytelling Network. They
expressed their intention to exhibit at both winter and summer conferences.

QUESTIONS/COMMENTS/ASSISTANCE NEEDED FROM ALSC OFFICE OR
BOARD: With the shape of conference changing, it looks like ALSC will no longer
sponsor SFASE. If that is not the case, I would like to work on next summer’s
program. If ALSC is not involved, what are the channels I need to try to get
this back? I am also on the ALA Public and Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee,
so I will also work with them.
