Information about EBSS Committee Meeting Locations & Times at ALA Annual 2012

EBSS Members:

Attached are the EBSS Committee meeting times and locations.  A location key is also appended to this email.  For those committees meeting at the Consolidated Meeting time (on Saturday) here are guidelines for when you may want to actually call your meetings:

  • Committee Chairs:  Announce via the EBSS listserv and ALAConnect when your committee will be convening between the 8:00 am and 12:00 noon time period.  Note that your committee can meet anytime within this period; however, most committees convene from 9:30 am – 11:00 am.  The key is to make sure that you communicate your exact meeting time via the EBSS listserv and ALAConnect so any non-committee members who would like to sit in on a meeting can be aware of the start time.  (Unfortunately, when making Consolidated Meeting committee meeting requests, the ALA database does not let me specify exact meeting times within a Consolidated Meeting period).
  • Know that the New Leaders Orientation Meeting will be held from:  8:00 am – 9:00 am that Saturday morning; we schedule this early to allow the new leaders to then join their respective committee meetings at the 9:30 am start times. 
  • At Consolidated, bring your own coffee or beverage – we will provide the treats.  We will have some pastries and fruit for your enjoyment.
  • At 11:00 am, I will provide a brief EBSS welcome and will ask the Committee Chairs to briefly report out on committee work.  Consolidated will wrap up by 12:00 noon.
  • A note about event locations:  You will note that the Saturday, 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm EBSS Program and the subsequent Research Forum Poster Session from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm is not co-located this year.  Unfortunately, due to meeting space limitations in Anaheim, ALA could not grant us our request to have these events co-located.  As we draw nearer to Annual, I will be sure to communicate how to make these two events, shuttle-wise.

If you have any additional questions about meeting locations and times, let me know.  Be looking for communication from your Committee Chair(s) concerning an exact meeting time within the 8:00 am – 12:00 noon time period for those committees meeting during the Consolidated Meeting time.
