STS Hot Topics Discussion Group -- Midwinter 2012 - "Academic Libraries as Partners in Research"

Academic Libraries as Partners in Research

Many academic libraries are directing more energy towards collaborating with research and teaching faculty in areas of research, collection development, instruction, and data management.  Library liaison programs fill that niche at some institutions, while other libraries are developing programs and positions to coordinate research with academic units.  This program examines ways that libraries are improving services while simultaneously engaging in knowledge production. Three panelists will discuss their activities, followed by audience discussion.

Bill Moen, Associate Dean for Research, University of North Texas College of Information.

Mark Phillips, Assistant Dean for Digital Libraries, University of North Texas Libraries.

Heather Moorefield-Lang, College Librarian for Education and Applied Social Sciences, Virginia Tech University Libraries.
