Community Forum Questions

Attached is the list of questions which the ALSC Board will be posing to members at the Community Forum on Friday, October 28. These questions will help guide the discussion on serving tweens. There are four main questions:

1. Who are the tweens in our libraries?

2. What are the significant similarities and differences between programs and services for tweens/younger elementary children/"real" teens?

3. If you have children’s librarians and teen librarians in your library system, who is responsible for serving tweens?

4. How can we garner administrative support so that front line staff can offer service to this special group ALSC members are invited to view and comment on discussion questions prior to the chat, particularly if unable to participate on October 28th. The discussion will also continue after the live chat on the ALSC division main page of ALA Connect.

The additional questions on this PDF document will be addressed should time allow. We’re scheduling this live chat to better connect with our members and to further our work with ‘tweens. Please join us in the experiment!
