Spread the word - I Love My Librarian Award

Dear PAC members,

Nominations for the 2011 Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award are open.  Can you help us continue to spread the word about the nomination period?

About the award

The award encourages library users nationwide to nominate librarians in a school, public or college, community college or university library for their contributions to their communities.  Ten librarians will win $5,000 and be honored at an award ceremony in New York in December.  Nominations are accepted on ALA’s public awareness website, atyourlibrary.org/ilovemylibrarian.

How you can help

The nomination period runs through September 12, and we’d love your help in continuing to spread the word.  Here’s how you can help:

  • Forward the link about the digital supplement of American Libraries that highlights the award to state listservs of which are you are a member or to librarian friends or colleagues who might be interested. http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/b850f6ea#/b850f6ea/1
  • Link to the nomination page on your library’s Facebook or Twitter page.  Sample:

Help your librarian win $5,000!  Nominate him/her for the I Love My Librarian Award http://ow.ly/66sTc

You can also follow atyourlibrary.org on Facebook (facebook.org/atyourlibrary) or Twitter (twitter.org/atyourlibrary) and simply share or re-tweet our posts and tweets about the award.

  • Promote the award at your library:  There are sample tools for helping to promote the award at http://ow.ly/67W4S.  Tools include a web button, template bookmarks, a logo and a sample press release to send to local media, e-newsletter, etc.

If you have any questions about the award, please let me know.

Thank you!  We look forward to working with you.
