The mission of the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) is to (1) To provide a forum for discussion of problems, concerns, and for exchange of ideas by librarians working with government documents; (2) to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs to increase availability, use, and bibliographic control of documents; (3) to increase communication between documents librarians and other librarians; (4) to contribute to the extension and improvement of education and training of documents librarians.

    GODORT Emerging Leaders

    The Awards Committee of ALA GODORT welcomes applications from librarians within GODORT interested in participating in the ALA Emerging Leaders program and who are interested in being endorsed by GODORT.

    The program is designed for new librarians (five years or less) to help them to develop as leaders within ALA and the profession. Information about the program and who is eligible to participate can be found on the ALA wiki.

    The application form for the Emerging Leaders program (http://www.ala.org/cfapps/emergingleaders/index.cfm) must be submitted online. Deadline for submission of the application and all references is August 1, 2011. All reference letters, letters of support, etc. should be submitted online by the same deadline.

    You may be contacted by the Chair of the Awards Committee for any additional information after that deadline has passed. One individual will be selected as the GODORT candidates.

    All nominees are required to provide a summary of the project(s) that they worked on at the ALA annual meeting during the GODORT membership meeting in 2012 in Anaheim.
