Higher Education Community Engagement in Rural Areas

NCRCRD Webinar Series: Higher Education Community Engagement in Rural Areas

Higher Education Community Engagement in Rural Areas
Randy Stoecker, University of Wisconsin-Madison

February 18, 2011
1:00pm EST

About the webinar: This webinar will focus on the characteristics and challenges of higher education community engagement in rural areas. The Rural Alliance for Service Learning, with support of the NCRCRD, has engaged in a yearlong exploration of rural higher education community engagement that included collecting case studies, interviewing higher education service learning coordinators in rural areas, and compiling the collective wisdom of the RASL network members. We will focus on what we learned, and its implications for designing higher education community engagement that can successfully serve rural areas.

Registration: There is no fee for attending this webinar.

About the Speakers: Randy Stoecker is professor in the department of Community and Environmental Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a joint appointment at the University of Wisconsin-Extension Center for Community and Economic Development. He is an author/editor of three books and many articles on higher education community engagement and conducts trainings on community-based research and service learning around the world.
