ALA Midwinter Program

Topic:  Patron Driven Acquisitions: Is it Provocative, Disruptive and Alienating or Pretty Darned Awesome?

Time/Location:  Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011     1:30-3:30 pm     SDCC-Room 23 C

In preparation for the ALA Annual Patron Driven Acquisitions Pre-Conference we are hosting a lively discussion exploring the current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats as more institutions come on board with PDA and will look at how it may shape the future. Are you already there? Come share your experiences. Are you considering implementing a patron driven workflow? Bring your concerns and questions to the table. Have you tried or thought about PDA and determined that it isn't a match for your institution's needs? This is a time to air those thoughts.

We anticipate an active discussion kicked off by our panelists:

Bill Kara, Head, E-Resources & Serials Management and Boaz Theodor Nadav-Manes, Head, Acquisitions Services/Philosophy Selector, Cornell University Library

David Givens, Acquisitions Coordinator, Loyola University Chicago Libraries

Carl Merat, Head, Collection Management, Liberty University Library

Lenny Allen, Director of Sales, Wholesale & Online, Oxford University Press
